Astin has been heavily involved in oral health promotion and education. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry and takes pride in providing high quality dental care to her patients.
Dr Astin Friskin grew up in Cairns, Far North Queensland before moving to South East Queensland to undertake her dentistry degree at Griffith University. After graduating in 2012, she relocated to Sydney, New South Wales to take part in a dental graduate program with NSW Health. She spent this time enhancing her dental skills in various specialties including oral surgery, oral medicine and emergency dental treatment as well as providing dental procedures to patients under general anaesthetic.
Since graduating dentistry, Astin has worked in both public and private clinics. She has spent many years working with vulnerable populations within South Eastern Sydney Local Health District. Notably, she has worked at hospital dental clinics providing dental care to geriatric and medically compromised patients, an Aboriginal health community centre and a special needs dental service aimed at improving the oral health of those affected by homelessness, domestic violence, drug and alcohol and mental health issues. She was the visiting Dental Officer for Lord Howe Island where she provided dental care to the residents of the remote island twice yearly.
After 7 years, she has decided to relocate back to Brisbane, Queensland to be closer to family.
Astin attends various dental courses and seminars yearly to continue her professional development and stay up to date with new advancements in dentistry. She has been heavily involved in oral health promotion and education. Astin enjoys all aspects of dentistry and takes pride in providing high quality dental care to her patients. She has a calm and gentle approach to dentistry which puts her patients at ease. When Astin isn’t in the dental clinic, you can find her cooking gourmet meals, painting, developing her pottery skills or going for long bush walks.
